THE EVENT
Marlin Masters is an exciting Tag & Released fishing
tournament being held in Mauritius, on the west and south
west coast of the Island, in front of Le Morne and Black
River: the best spots for deep sea fishing in Mauritius and
among the best in the world!!
The Event is being organized by dedicated, passionate and
professional fishermen in synergy with one of the regional
leading hotel group in the Indian Ocean, NAÏADE RESORTS.
Marlin Masters is an International
Game Fish Association Offshore World Championship Qualifying tournament: the 2008
winning team will participate in the IGFA 2009 Championship!

experience in the organization of international tournaments

fishing club of the Indian Ocean (incorporated in 1957),
organizer and co-organizer of international and local deep
sea fishing competitions since 1998.
FISHING BOATS
Marlin Masters Mauritius makes available to participants
the best and fully equipped boats on the Island. Among
others are the Moana fleet with top class 42 feet long
boats (beam 13 feet) powered by twin Caterpillar V8 210
HP.
RULES & REGULATIONS
Team and Boats
There must be a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 4 anglers per
team. Each team will participate in a boat draw for each
of the 4 days fishing. Spare boats will be provided in
case of breakdown.
Fishing
Fishing days (depending weather conditions):

(New Moon: 20 - 21 February 2008)
Fishing Date:16th of February 2008 starts at 05h30 and
stops at 16h00
Fishing Date: 17th of February 2008 starts at 06h00 and
stops at 16h00
Fishing Date: 18th of February 2008 starts at 07h00 and
stops at 16h00
Fishing Date: 19th of February 2008 starts at 05h30 and
stops at 16h00
At 16h00 every fishing day, all lines must be out of the
water. Should a fish be hooked after 16h00 the entire catch
of the day will be disqualified. If a fish is hooked and
reported on the radio before 16h00, no penalty will be imposed.
However, the team must be back at the club's jetty by midnight
otherwise the entire catch of the day will be disqualified.
On the last day of fishing all teams must be back at the
club's jetty by 17h00 otherwise the entire catch of the day
will be disqualified.
Radio
All strikes must be reported on the radio giving fish species
if known, name of angler, line class and zone in which
the fish has been hooked.
Line Test
Line class allowed: 80 lb., 50 lb. and 30 lb line. No point
will be awarded for any fish caught on any other line class.
Should you decide to fish on 50 lb and/or 30 lb line class,
we recommend that you bring your own equipment.
Weigh in
Team captains must report to the weigh master after docking,
with their completed and signed fish score cards. A signed "Nil" card
must be submitted even if no fish was caught or released.
Points
Will be awarded pr lb. for fish caught in accordance with
the following table:
