Billfish and shark tag & release is fully encouraged at no extra charge to the client. In Mauritius all fish caught is food for the locals and the tourism industy. Around the Island all fish caught remain the property of the boat owner and the skippers, 15% being the share of the two skippers. In our organisation 25% is the property of the skippers. In order to encourage them to release your billfish we will pay them the 25% they would have had on their estimation of the weight of the released fish. This action costs us a lot of money each year but it is the best way to to have both the client and the skippers happy to release billfish.
